The Mage :
Romain Mage: guitarist, composer and backing vocals
Romain began private classical guitar lessons at the age of nine years old with Pierre-Alain Magni («Quatuor Linhares») and stopped after 11 years for his studies in high school. During those years, he attended guitar workshops offered by his professor and took part in the final representations of every workshop. Around the end of his studies he played in guitar duets or trios in addition to his musical studies.
At 15 years old he bought his first electric guitar and started a small rock band with two friends. A few months later, he met a high school friend Mathieu whose brother, David Gantner, joined the band as a drummer. The band won the first prize in a young musical artists competition, and then separated shortly afterwards. With Mathieu and Yannick Tinguely (bassist of the initial band), they continued to play at three and then decided to start a pop/rock band together with a singer and a violinist. However, this was inconclusive so they decided to return to their "roots" and start a jazz/rock band entitled "Crab-Tree". A vibraphonist and David (who played the clarinet and second bass) joined the band. Without the vibraphonist, they started a jazz band with a pianist, a trumpeter and a singer and performed at the “festival Jazz Marignac” in 2005. They stopped playing together around the end of high school for various reasons.
In the 4th year of high school, Romain participated at the High School Musical De Saussure where he met Arthur Spierer and Alexandre Büchi. He joined the band “Wind of Change” in 2005.
His favorite quote:
“Music alone has a place in today's world, precisely because it doesn’t pretend to say determined things.” [Mikhaïl Bakounine]
